# FAQ

<details>

<summary>What is Strix Lab?</summary>

A prediction market where you trade shares in the outcomes of real-world events. Each share costs between 1¢ and 99¢ and pays $1 if that outcome happens. See [What is Strix Lab?](/getting-started/what-is-strix.md)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need crypto experience to use it?</summary>

No. Sign in with email or a social login and an embedded wallet is created for you automatically — no browser extension or seed phrase required. You'll need USDC to trade. See [Connect Your Wallet](/getting-started/connect-wallet.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>What currency do I trade in?</summary>

USDC, a US-dollar stablecoin (1 USDC ≈ $1). You deposit USDC, and all balances and payouts are in USDC.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How are prices set?</summary>

Entirely by supply and demand on a live order book — there's no house setting odds. A price is effectively the market's estimate of the probability of that outcome. See [How Markets Work](/trading/how-markets-work.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>What fees do I pay?</summary>

Makers (resting limit orders) pay **nothing**. Takers pay a small, category-based fee that shrinks toward the price extremes. Geopolitics markets are free. Full detail in [Fees](/trading/fees.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I have to wait until the event ends to get my money?</summary>

No. You can sell your shares any time the market is open to lock in a profit or cut a loss. Holding until resolution is optional. See [Market Resolution](/trading/market-resolution.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I cancel an order?</summary>

Yes, while it's fully open. Once an order has started filling, its remaining portion locks briefly while settlement completes and can't be cancelled. See [Order Types](/trading/order-types.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do markets get resolved?</summary>

Based on the real-world result from the authoritative source named in the market's description. Winning shares pay $1; losing shares pay $0. Always read a market's resolution criteria before trading.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is my money safe / who holds my funds?</summary>

Your funds sit in your own self-custodial embedded wallet and settle on-chain. Strix Lab never takes custody and can't move your funds without your authorization.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I trade programmatically?</summary>

Yes — there's a full REST + WebSocket API with HMAC auth for bots and market makers. Start at [API Overview](/developers/api-overview.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do rewards work?</summary>

You can earn [Strix Points](/rewards/strix-points.md) for trading, [liquidity rewards](/rewards/liquidity-rewards.md) for market making, and referral bonuses via [Refer & Earn](/rewards/referrals.md). Programs roll out in phases and details are announced in-app.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.strixlab.io/resources/faq.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
